It is with deep gratitude and sadness that we share that Sister Maureen (Marie Helen) Gallagher, OP, one of the founding forces behind Mary’s Pence, entered eternal life on March 22, 2026.
In 1987, after a small prayer gathering in Chicago, Sister Maureen helped bring to life an idea: to ensure that women working for justice could access the resources they deserved. She gathered other committed and passionate women, and together they founded Mary’s Pence, creating a path for women to lead, be supported, and transform their communities. Her impact lives on in countless lives — many of whom may never know her name.
While Sister Maureen stepped back from active involvement in later years, her early vision continues to guide Mary’s Pence today. We remain deeply grateful for the foundation she built and the path she set in motion.
We are honored to have worked alongside you to carry forward Sister Maureen’s mission, and we thank our supporters for their commitment and partnership over the years.
We hold Sister Maureen in prayer and give thanks for her faithful ministry and enduring witness.
