Letter from Executive Director

In this coming year I want to dwell on the word ‘grace.’

I believe grace reflects virtue, love, goodness and dignity. I believe that the divine is in each of us. Therefore, we all have access to grace, and the responsibility to use it to heal our world.

Grace comes to each of us – from the people we love, our community (whether we like them or not), from the earth that makes our life possible, and from the divine. My goal this year will be to listen deeply for grace at each of these levels.

And we each send grace out into the world in so many ways – through our personal interactions, but also our social, political, and economic actions, our use of resources, and the energy we emanate.

Grace is a gift. Grace gives us the ability to love unconditionally. And it fuels our power to reshape the world.

What does this discussion have to do with Mary’s Pence?

I believe grace is deeply reflected in the work of our grantees across the U.S. and of the ESPERA partners in Central America and Mexico. They work side by side in their communities, using their love and power to transform lives, often with the courage required to address hard issues.

Together we can meet this moment, with courage and love, and with grace.

May this year be a grace filled year,
