I am honored to be a compañera— a partner in action— to the women of Mary’s Pence. I’ve been a sustaining donor for a few years because I appreciate how Mary’s Pence uses my funds to empower women to help themselves, their families, and their communities. Having traveled a fair amount, I see how women are often the unsung heroes who quietly keep families and communities running. And so often, women are not recognized for that. But Mary’s Pence knows and values women’s contributions and strength, and I want to do what I can to support that. In addition, the ESPERA Program works with women to provide them with loans and also assists them in outlining a plan to repay the loans, which is essential in developing self-esteem and self-respect. It’s a powerful program that I’m proud to say I support.
