The WomanHOOD Project (HOOD: Helping Ourselves Overcome Discrimination) is an after-school mentorship program for girls, femmes, and trans/gender nonconforming (TGNC) youth of color in the Bronx. Their mission is to celebrate womanhood through a racial and gender justice lens by building the next generation of grassroots leaders. The organization hosts an after-school program and a summer camp where girls learn about youth leadership development, access to community resources, and wellness and self-care. The WomanHOOD Project works to build a community representative of young people of color from marginalized genders, increase access to feminist education and create a safe space for learning and growing.
