Black Coalition for Safe Motherhood is dedicated to improving maternal health among Black and brown communities through advocacy, education, and coalition-building. Through their community-led approach, the organization is working toward a healthcare system in which the voices, dignity, and bodily autonomy of Black and brown families are respected.
BCFSM offers the ACTT curriculum — Asking questions until you understand the answers, Claiming your space (physically and mentally), Trusting your body, and Telling your story — through which nurses, obstetricians, midwives, doulas, and anyone in the community can collaborate to provide a comprehensive healthcare advocacy toolkit. This toolkit helps improve pregnancy, birth, and post-birth outcomes for Black families.
BCFSM also trains ACTT Workshop Facilitators nationwide, equipping them to deliver ACTT learning in formats that best serve their communities, either in person or virtually.
