Data for Indigenous Justice

Data for Indigenous Justice(DIJ) was created from community grassroots efforts to call attention to the crisis of missing, murdered, Indigenous women, girls, and two-spirited people (MMIWG2S) and was only the second database in the nation to track this cause. DIJ plans to use their database to help address the issue across the nation and ensure that it is shared ethically and benefits the communities. They are working closely with other Indigenous-led nonprofits to create community-led healing initiatives, create tool kits, and address legislation and law enforcement issues. By decolonizing data collection, DIJ makes systemic issues visible within the indigenous community and hopes to shift the power structures to create change and address injustices.
