DemocraShe empowers historically underserved, female-identifying high school students with the leadership and resilience skills necessary to thrive as leaders, voters, civically engaged citizens, and future elected officials. Every public policy skill to help women step successfully into civic leadership is matched with an evidence-based social work practice – at the critical developmental stage of high school.
These social workpractices both help young women overcome systemic barriers on a woman’s leadership journey as well as lead to an internal strength that prevents burnout and exhaustion in the face of systemic societal pushback on intersectional female-identifying leaders. DemocraShe invests in young women through an equity lens, providing a $15/hr stipend to ensure economic accessibility and enable every ambitious young woman to effect change in her community and country, regardless of economic background. DemocraShe wants to create a pipeline of socially conscious leaders with the resilience to stay with justice work long-term and thrive while they do so and it has already seen success with building a political pipeline. Three DemocraSheroes ran for elected office in 2024 and two won!
