Germantown Residents for Economic Alternatives Together (GREAT) is a grassroots neighborhood organization located in Northwest Philadelphia that works to connect Germantown neighbors to one another, to build a stronger sustainable community, to share resources and information, and to prevent neighbors from being displaced.
GREAT members use their collective resources to grow food, share tools, support each other in times of need, organize around issues of housing justice, and strengthen their community’s holistic health and well-being. like deed-related issues, and creates a culture of fighting displacement and other injustices.
Whether it is neighborhood swap meets, collaborative learning around gentrification, the Mutual Aid Fund, advocating for food security by teaching neighbors gardening techniques, or emergency preparedness planning that looks out for those most vulnerable, GREAT members are co-creating systems rooted in social justice to shape a community that thrives on collective work and responsibility.
