Hattie B. BWIP is dedicated to empowering young girls to transcend their immediate circumstances and envision a future filled with possibilities. Hattie B. BWIP primarily impacts young girls aged 6-18 from marginalized Black and Brown communities, with a focus on those residing in rural and underserved areas across Cochise, Pima, Pinal, and Maricopa counties in Arizona.
The girls in this area are uniquely positioned at the intersection of youth, gender, race, and often economic disadvantage, making them particularly susceptible to systemic barriers that limit their access to education, healthcare, and opportunities for personal development. With a mission to instill confidence, foster leadership skills, and encourage personal growth in girls, Hattie B BWIP has been actively working towards bridging education and opportunity gaps faced by girls in these rural and underserved areas.
Mary’s Pence grant will support the Acacia B. Girls Confidence Camp, a day program and overnight program. The immersive educational experience provides academic enrichment, fosters sisterhood, and nurtures life skills, emotional resilience, and self-assurance while fostering a future where every girl has the tools and confidence to realize her full potential.
