Mama to Mama works to increase social support for all mothers as they make the transition into parenthood by promoting healthy parenting practices in an effort to create healthier and more sustainable communities. One of their core programs, the Community-supported Doula Project, provides doulas to women who are at very high risk for disparities in perinatal health outcomes. Recognizing that the doula profession suffers from a lack of cultural and racial diversity, Mama to Mama covers part of training costs for emerging doulas who are low-income women of color to serve in their own Louisville communities. In 2020 Mama to Mama was able to provide 25 doulas to families and hopes to reach more this year.
